Happy Tuesday ladies! If you followed my Instagram stories this past weekend then you got to see some little Disneyland tidbits from our trip. We had a wonderful and magical time with my family even though the crowds were a little crazy, but I'll share a little more about that in a bit.
So where have I been? I mentioned a few times that my father was ill and was in in-home hospice care. Caring for him became a full time job so other things like Instagram and this blog just kind of got put off. Just when I was getting the hang of things we lost him.
I kept busy taking care of everything with the funeral, took care of my mom, and in my culture it is customary to have a rosary every night for nine nights after a death so we had between 30-40 people every night to host and it all kept me sane. Well, sane and insane at the same time if it makes any sense. I find comfort in staying busy and taking the lead so while it was incredibly stressful, it helped me more that I thought. It took a bit to find my footing again, but I'm getting there.
The timeline of everything is something that is just so bizarre. My dad was released into hospice care the day before my mom's birthday and then he passed a couple of days before mine. And since we didn't really get to celebrate either one properly, we decided to take a trip to Disneyland to celebrate and to honor the memories we have of my dad on our yearly Disney trips.
It was wonderful to see my mom happy and smiling after such a difficult time. My parents were married for 48 years so it's difficult to imagine just what she is feeling, but it's nice to see her trying to live her life and keep his memory alive.
Would you believe I had never visited Disneyland during the holiday season? It was SO BEAUTIFUL! I hate that I waited so long to experience it. I am a fellow Christmas light lover so it was especially magical for me. It was also my first time getting to see the Fantasmic show and WHOA, let me tell you, that show is amazing. We stood in front of the Haunted Mansion, but still had a great view and highly recommend that area if you don't feel like being squished like a sardine in the center.
I have a newfound respect for everybody who works in hospice. Bless you. What you do is incredible and you can't even begin to imagine just how much you are helping these families. I know it gets hard, but you are making such a difference. Thank you.
I had a wonderful time and I'm happy to be back and get back into the swing of things!
